Many people think of mountains and dales, woods and lakes in the Lake District but Cumbria is much more than the national park. Having been to Barrow-in-Furness for shopping I paid a visit to Askam-in-Furness a few miles north up the coast.
With the best will in the world this isn't the prettiest part of Cumbria but for a photographer it's a great place full of possibility. The weather didn't help the scenic qualities but made grainy black and white an obvious choice.
I think the sunsets here would be particularly good but I wasn't able to get back before we had moved house to the far corner of the county and it's now too far away so this is all I am likely to get.
